Last Tuesday, July 29, 2025, 4MATT promoted the fourth and final meeting of the ITAM and CMDB 2025 ConferenceThis closure had emphasis on the platform as the backbone of digital.
The Webinar was led by 4MATT experts: Ellen Ferro (Head of ITAM), Bruno Ferreira (Technical Delivery Director), Mahur Abraham (ServiceNow Consultant) and Israel Nicolau (Head of Pre-Sales).
We had a strategic and expertly focused discussion on the most efficient, secure, and integrated configurations. We also focused on transforming data and automation into concrete results for operations.
Main topics presented
During the webinar, key aspects were discussed, including:
- Connecting technology, governance, and performance to deliver value for IT operations
- Generate and analyze practical insights and real-world experiences for more strategic and efficient asset management
- The main challenges of the ITAM & CMDB market today
- The ITIL Vision of Technology
- ITAM & CMDB in practice
The role of Platforms in IT asset management
Ellen defends platforms as one of the foundations for achieving results and necessary for optimization, combined with other execution factors.
"The platform is the tool that helps us achieve our goals. Therefore, we need to address the three pillars together: processes, people, and platforms. Without a platform, we cannot scale. This process requires strategy and adaptability." – Ellen Ferro
Likewise, the idea is confirmed by Bruno, who highlighted technology as fundamental, but also reinforced its intermediary role, not as the sole responsible for good management.
"The platform is a fundamental pillar for IT asset management. However, technology is the means; it's not enough without the foundation of processes and people." – Bruno Ferreira
4MATT experts also point out the need for an integrated approach to service management, operations management, and asset management. To achieve this, everyone needs to be at the same level of maturity, with training and improvements.
ITIL supporting ITAM & CMDB
THE ITIL plays a fundamental role in the good execution of the ITAM and CMDB, ensuring effective and optimized management, focusing on the IT asset lifecycle and supporting decision-making.
With the support and tools, the dots are connected and managed, which reinforces the keywords of the CMDB: integration and automation. Mahur proposes this attentive look at resources and tools, with data organization and storage.
"The biggest advantage of a CMDB isn't that it's a database. It's important to identify the installed software and the associated relationships. The discovery tool presents the information to us in the configuration item." – Mahur Abraham
To illustrate the tool, Mahur also carried out a step-by-step guide, navigating the configuration menus of the ServiceNow, a 4MATT partner, offering practical tips on understanding the platform and its features.
Action Plan
4Matt's experts also developed and presented an effective action plan to put into practice what was discussed during the journey, including:
- Tool evaluation: Map and evaluate coverage and accuracy
- Identifying gaps and opportunities: point out the lack of use
- Data integration for a holistic view of assets and CIs.
- Reflect on your processes: Structure and reflect ITAM and CMDB steps in integrated tools
- Empower your team with support in operational and strategic processes
