Webinar I — ITAM & CMDB + AI Journey 2026: What happens when AI inherits a bad CMDB?

Hundreds of professionals gathered by 4MATT discovered why 95% of AI pilots fail — and what that has to do with CMDB.

The ITAM CMDB AI 2026 Journey is a series of webinars promoted by 4MATT, ServiceNow Elite Partner in Brazil, This webinar, dedicated to a problem that paralyzes AI initiatives in large companies—the lack of a reliable data foundation—was the first webinar of the ITAM CMDB AI 2026 Journey, bringing together hundreds of IT professionals to answer why artificial intelligence applied to CMDB and ITAM fails—and what is needed to change that outcome.

From spreadsheet to independent agent: the transformation of CMDB

Ellen Ferro and Gustavo Zappi, heads of ITAM and AI at 4MATT, winner of the Technology Excellence Partner Award 2024–2025, led a dense and direct session. The starting point was the transformation of the CMDB's role: from a passive record system to an active intelligence system, capable of automatically discovering assets, predicting failures before they occur, acting on processes without manual intervention, and learning from each execution cycle.

The session mapped three stages of maturity of AI applied to ITAM and CMDB:

  • Predictive AI — delivers the highest ROI today, preventing infrastructure failures and anticipating license renewals before expiration. It is the stage with the lowest data maturity requirement and the highest immediate return.
  • Generative AI — transforms structured data into natural language and converts technical knowledge into accessible operational answers for business and support teams.
  • AI Agency — the most powerful stage and the one that demands the most governance: it acts autonomously on IT processes without human intervention at each stage. It is also where a poorly structured CMDB causes the most systemic damage.

The problem isn't the model. It's the foundation.

The data presented in Webinar I accurately defines the scenario: 95% of enterprise AI pilots fail to deliver measurable impact (MIT, 2025). Only 25% of organizations extract real value from CMDB today (Gartner). And 83% of companies don't see at least 20% of their own IT assets.

The conclusion is straightforward: Garbage in, garbage out — now at the speed and scale of artificial intelligence. When an autonomous agent operates on a CMDB with incomplete, inconsistent, or ownerless data, the decisions generated amplify the errors instead of correcting them.

The problem is almost never technical. It lies in the absence of a foundation: data without an accountable party, processes without governance, a strategy that starts with technology instead of business value. No model can solve what data governance has failed to build.

ITAM CMDB AI 2026 Journey: The AI-Ready Framework for CMDB and ITAM

4MATT presented the AI-Ready framework as a diagnostic and execution framework for organizations that need to activate artificial intelligence on ITAM and CMDB with measurable results. The framework operates on four interdependent pillars—all of which need to be in motion before any AI pilot goes into production:

Pillar What does it address?
People Roles, responsibilities, and skills for operating asset data with continuous quality.
Processes CI governance, automated discovery cycles, and asset lifecycle management.
Technology CMDB structured in CSDM with Discovery and Service Mapping enabled in ServiceNow.
Strategy Alignment between data maturity and AI use cases — in the right value sequence.

Reliable data is the result of a process—not a one-off cleanup. A CMDB that supports agency-driven AI isn't built with emergency remediation projects; it's the result of continuously operated governance discipline, with clear ownership of each class of data intelligence (DII).

Webinar II: Governance as a Competitive Advantage

Webinar II of the ITAM CMDB AI 2026 Journey delves deeper into the topic raised by the data from Webinar I: Governance as a competitive advantage — "AI has already arrived at ITAM and CMDB, but has governance arrived along with it?"“

If Webinar I asked why AI fails, Webinar II answers how to govern it so that it works — with applied case studies, execution frameworks, and the perspective of those who have already structured this transformation for Brazilian companies.
